Tour Review: Griff brings her Vertigo World Tour to the US

Sarah Griffiths, known by her fans as Griff, brought her Vertigo tour to the US. Last night, we stopped by her Philadelphia show at the Theater of Living Arts, and I have vertigo just thinking about it.

Griff’s album Vertigo was fully released in July, but was preceded by two collections of music from the project titled Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Prior to setting off on her world tour, the singer served as an opening act for artists like Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift with a discography pulling from Vertigo‘s opening volumes.

At 23-years-old, Sarah has performed in arenas and stadiums with some of the biggest names in music, so how will that transfer to an intimate theater venue like the Living Arts? That’s a question I’m sure even Griff has asked herself before embarking on her first headlining world tour. But, It’s safe to say she absolutely crushed it.

Her setlist included all of her debut album Vertigo and some of her previous releases like “Walk” and “Head on Fire.” Addressing the change of pace from touring in stadiums, Griff asked politely to the crowd if she can join them on the floor for a few songs where she also did a cover of Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe.” Keep that on the DL though, we were told not to tell her next venue!

As for the rest of her set, Griff was electric. Every song seemed like the main event. In her home-made outfit, she performed the songs she’s written and produced herself on a rather small stage with a two person band, but it was a spectacle none-the-less. As she jumped and twirled around her stage (sometimes getting her braid stuck around the mic stand), her crowd knew all the cues and lyrics for every track she played.

It’s no wonder Taylor Swift hand-picked Griff to open her Era’s Tour in Wembley. Her vocals and energy on stage capture something really special. If you want to see Griff live, this is the tour to do it! She plays these theaters with the same confidence and presence you get from her stadium sets.
