Ice Spice announces debut album ‘Y2K’ release date

Ice Spice has finally revealed the release date for her anticipated debut album Y2K.

“HIIIII >.< Y2K ☆ THE ALBUM WILL BE DROPPING JULY 26TH !!!!” Ice Spice, 24, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, June 5, alongside the album’s cover art. “Pre-save the link in my bio now.”

The cover art for the album can be seen below. It features the Bronx rapper posing in front of a subway station with the album’s title Y2K painted on a trash can in bright green and pink graffiti. Many fans of the rapper were quick to criticize the cover photo.

Today, Ice Spice herself responded to the criticism, posting a Polaroid photo of herself and David LaChappelle who shot the image with a thankful caption.

“David LaChapelle is #Y2K!” she wrote. “soooo sweet + legendary he didn’t even charge me cus he f*cks wit a real b*tch💋thank U for all the incredible art you’ve put out through the years this cover means everything to me ❤️ & yes Y2K was placed on the trash can on purpose can u guess why?”

In the “X” post, Ice Spice says the title was purposefully places on the trash can and asks if you can guess why. To be honest we can’t, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t excited for the album!
