has released her latest single, “Bottle,” alongside an official music video. The track follows her recent single “Twiggy” and arrives just days after Wolf announced her highly anticipated third studio album, Mud, due October 9 via Remi Wolf/Island Records.
“Bottle” made its debut on Zane Lowe, giving fans another taste of what to expect from the upcoming record. With Mud, Wolf appears to be embracing the messy, emotional, and unpredictable sides of life while continuing to build on the colorful pop sound that has become her signature.
Earlier this week, Wolf gave fans an even closer look at the new era with an intimate backyard performance, where she debuted several songs from Mud. She also sat down with Pigeons & Planes to discuss the making of the album and the creative process behind her newest material.
For Wolf, Mud became an opportunity to make music without worrying about whether everything had to fit neatly together.
“I made ‘Mud’ with some of my closest friends and family, and I think because I felt so safe with them, I could kind of crack my chest open and let whatever was in there crawl out,” Wolf explained. “Sometimes it was really sad, sometimes it was disgusting, sometimes it was hilarious.”
“There was no pressure to make myself make sense. I could just be. We followed whatever felt alive,” she continued. “I think that’s why the record feels the way it does. It’s emotional and messy and joyful and full of love.”
The 11-track album will feature both previously released songs and brand-new material. Alongside “Bottle” and “Twiggy,” the tracklist includes “Champagne,” “Burn Me Blue,” “Jamie,” “Covered In Mud,” “Moon So High,” “I Won’t Cry,” “Wine Drunk,” “Guess,” and “Yellow Rose.”
