RAYE to make acting debut in crime thriller ‘Lineage’

Baby, where is her Oscar?

RAYE is heading to the big screen! The singer has officially been cast in the upcoming crime thriller Lineage directed by Yann Demange, according to Variety.

The film will star RAYE alongside French actors Dali Benssalah, Adam Bessa and legendary actress Isabelle Huppert. While RAYE previously appeared as herself in the 2025 Netflix limited series Black Rabbit, Lineage marks her official acting debut.

Based on a story by Demange and written for the screen by Edna Walsh, the film is set in present-day London and follows Tariq, a father trying to rebuild his life after being released from prison. Production is expected to begin in London this August.

The exciting casting news arrives shortly after the release of RAYE’s second studio album This Music May Contain Hope, which dropped in March. The project peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and featured her highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 hit to date, “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!,” which also reached No. 11.

Recently, RAYE opened up about the freedom she’s found as an independent artist and how creating music outside of the traditional label system has allowed her to fully embrace her artistic vision.

On Wednesday, May 13, RAYE wraps the North American leg of her This Tour May Contain New Music tour before heading home to London for two nights at The O2 Arena. Later this month, she’ll also compete for Best Vocal Performance at the American Music Awards for “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!”
