Olivia Rodrigo is joining forces with Chappell Roan for a new remix from Rodrigo’s latest album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love and we have high “Expectations.”
Rodrigo announced the collaboration on Tuesday after fans began speculating about a possible team-up between the two singers. The rumors picked up steam Monday when Rodrigo shared a teaser on her Instagram story featuring Roan saying, “Ooh, Olivia does remixes now.”
The “Expectations” remix is set to arrive Thursday at 5 p.m., accompanied by a music video directed by Bardia Zeinali starring both pop stars.
The collaboration brings together two artists whose paths have crossed several times throughout their careers. Roan previously opened for Rodrigo and later performed at Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival in August. The two also share a creative connection through producer and songwriter Dan Nigro, who has played a major role in shaping both artists’ music.
Daisy Chain Fields was a women-led charitable festival that raised $20 million for nonprofit organizations, including Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights.
Roan is also preparing to host her own charitable event in Los Angeles this month. The Super Graphic Spectacular benefit shows will raise funds for her Midwest Princess Project, with Tinashe, Muna, Lola Young and Caroline Polachek among the artists announced for the lineup.
The remix will mark the fourth single from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love, following “Drop Dead,” “The Cure” and “Stupid Song.” The release arrives as Rodrigo continues her sold-out Unraveled Tour, bringing her latest material to audiences around the world.
Last week, Rodrigo appeared on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s music issue, where she discussed the making of her latest album, organizing Daisy Chain Fields and navigating the pressures of fame. Since breaking through with her 2021 hit “Drivers License,” Rodrigo has become one of pop music’s defining voices of her generation.
With the addition of Roan, “Expectations” is set to bring two of pop’s biggest names together on a single track, giving fans a collaboration they have been eager to hear.
