Matty Healy is once again stirring up conversation among The 1975’s devoted fanbase, this time for quietly deleting a song from the band’s catalog.
Fans recently noticed that “Human Too,” the ninth track from The 1975’s 2022 album Being Funny in a Foreign Language, had vanished from all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. Confused listeners took to social media and Reddit to question the disappearance, prompting Healy himself to weigh in.
Responding to a Reddit thread, the frontman confirmed the track’s removal, writing, “Human Too was removed from the album so the album is more how I want it to be. Previous physical release obviously remain the same.”
Healy also hinted that the decision came down to personal taste, implying he no longer stands by the song and suggesting another track could face the same fate. “I doubt the same will happen with any other records as I am pretty happy with them outside of ‘What Should I Say’ from Notes on a Conditional Form*. So that may also be removed who knows,*” he wrote.
Fans were quick to express frustration, calling “Human Too” a fan favorite and pleading with Healy not to remove “What Should I Say.” In typical Matty fashion, he offered a brief and teasing response to one worried commenter: “Ok no worries x.”
While “Human Too” remains absent from digital platforms, physical copies of Being Funny in a Foreign Language will still include the track : a small consolation for fans of one of the band’s more introspective cuts.
