Griff gave a dreamy performance of Charli xcx’s Brat track, “Apple,” on Triple J’s Like A Version.
The take on one of 2024’s biggest songs was immediately met with fan approval after being posted on the popular Youtube channel. In a behind the scenes interview, Griff had a lot of praise for her fellow UK pop girl.
“I just think that what Charli’s done with this album and with Brat has been so inspiring,” she said.
“It’s been such a cultural movement and as a fellow female pop girl, I love it. I’m a big fan of it. I think pop can be so saturated with the usual, same-old lyrics but when you listen to ‘Apple’ you’re a bit like ‘hang on a second’.”
Griff’s interpretation of the track adds her signature synth sound and is surprisingly reworked into a way only Griff can deliver. The singer also performed her own track “Anything” from her new album Vertigo.
