Jack Antonoff appeared on the TODAY show to promote his band’s new self-titled album called Bleachers.
The group sang their songs “Modern Girl,” “Tiny Moves,” and “Rollercoaster.” When interviewed, he expressed his enthusiasm regarding his accomplishments as the producer of Taylor Swift’s album The Tortured Poets Department and Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Please Please Please.”
He explained: “I work not very far away, I work at a studio called Electric Lady and I’m up at the roof — it’s sort of like a little bit of a small apartment up there. We make all the records up there and when lots of people hear them, it feels amazing because we’re sort of contained up there.”
He continued, “You don’t hear a lot of great songs about like, one’s lunch order. So the things you don’t really understand and cause you pain are usually things worth writing about.”
Meanwhile, Jack previously revealed he was “overwhelmed” by the reaction to The Tortured Poets Department, which he co-produced with The National’s Aaron Dessner and Taylor.
On X, he posted: “[I] love this album more than I can say …. love you all very much … more later very overwhelmed … love you Taylor [sic].”
In two separate posts, Jack – who is credited as a co-writer on several songs – appeared to highlight two tracks on the album, writing “!! FOTS heads lets go !!”, referencing the song “Fresh Out The Slammer”, as well as stating “Down bad heads as well”, referring to the track “Down Bad.”
When asked about his Fourth of July plans, he simply said, ” Tonight? I’m going to the studio. That’s where I got to be.” Sabrina Carpenter, 25, recently got the first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper with “Please Please Please.” Her previous track, “Espresso” from the new album Short n’ Sweet, has reached the No. 3 position.
