Holly Humberstone has fans wondering what comes next after the singer shared a mysterious new teaser to her Instagram Story, seemingly hinting at a deluxe version of her latest album, Cruel World.
On Friday, Humberstone posted a short video accompanied by the ominous caption “So it ends…” The teaser features the singer softly singing the words “Hello again” before the clip abruptly transitions into the sound of a ticking clock.
On Holly Humberstone’s website there is now a 70-day countdown, which is set to reach zero on November 13. While Humberstone has not officially revealed what will arrive when the countdown ends, the clues appear to point toward a new release connected to Cruel World.
The wording “So it ends…” is particularly significant for fans. Cruel World, Humberstone’s second studio album, opens with a track titled “So It Starts…” The song was designed to introduce the album’s theatrical world, making the new teaser’s “So it ends…” wording feel anything but coincidental.
Cruel World was released in April, sevon months before the mystery November 13 release.
For now, Humberstone appears to be deliberately letting the clues speak for themselves.
The timing is also interesting. Humberstone is currently preparing to join Gracie Abrams’ upcoming The Look At My Life Tour as a special guest on select dates. The tour is scheduled to begin in December, with Humberstone among the artists joining Abrams throughout the North American run. Official tour listings currently include Humberstone as a special guest for Abrams’ December shows at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum.
That means the November 13 date would arrive just weeks before Humberstone hits the road with Abrams, potentially giving her a fresh piece of music to bring into a major new touring cycle.
It would also make sense as a way of extending the life of Cruel World. The album has already taken Humberstone into a new musical and visual world, with its promotional material leaning heavily into theatrical imagery, dark fairytale elements and ideas of memory and childhood relics.
For now, fans have 70 days to figure out exactly what Holly Humberstone has planned.
