Hilary Duff is officially back. The multiplatinum pop icon has released her highly anticipated new single “Mature,” her first release in ten years.
Co-written by Duff, her husband and Grammy-winning songwriter-producer Matthew Koma (Britney Spears, Pink), and hitmaker Madison Love (Halsey, Ava Max), the shimmering, sardonic track plays like a piece of autofiction, inspired by romantic misadventures from Duff’s younger years.
“‘Mature’ is a little conversation that my present self is having with my younger self,” Duff shared. “The two of us are reflecting on a past experience and sending love to each other. It’s a chuckle, a wink, and a sense of being grateful that we are sure footed in where we landed.”
The song pairs bright, buoyant pop production with Duff’s signature blend of wit and vulnerability. Its release is accompanied by a music video directed by Lauren Dunn (Olivia Rodrigo, Dove Cameron, Saweetie), premiering today on Hilary’s YouTube channel.\
“Mature” arrives ahead of Duff’s upcoming docuseries, which will chronicle her long-awaited musical comeback and personal journey. The series offers an unfiltered look at her life as she juggles family, recording sessions, and preparing to perform live for the first time in over a decade.
Directed and executive produced by Grammy-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Sam Wrench (Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter), the series blends vérité footage, stylized interviews, live performances, and never-before-seen clips from Duff’s personal archive.
