Conan Gray has released his highly anticipated new album, Wishbone! The record marks a return to his singer-songwriter roots after falling in love for the first time, showcasing some of his most personal and creative work to date.
Wishbone was entirely written by Gray and features the previously released singles “This Song” and “Vodka Cranberry.” The album was executive produced by Grammy Award winner Dan Nigro, Gray’s longtime collaborator since 2018, who also produced his multi-platinum hits “Heather” and “Maniac.” Additional production comes from Ethan Gruska, Noah Conrad, Luka Kloser, and Elvira.
This morning, Gray debuted songs from Wishbone on the Today Show Summer Concert Series, performing for a packed audience at New York’s Rockefeller Plaza. The setlist included “This Song,” “Vodka Cranberry,” “Caramel,” and fan favorite “Heather.”
The music video for “Caramel” continues the story of characters Wilson and Brando, following the visuals for “This Song” and “Vodka Cranberry.” Directed by Danica Kleinknecht (Mk.Gee), the video co-stars Corey Fogelmanis and was filmed in Gray’s home state of Texas.
Both “This Song” and “Vodka Cranberry” have been met with critical acclaim. Rolling Stone called “This Song” “another evolution” for Gray, while Cosmopolitan noted the return to his “vulnerable bedroom pop songwriting roots.” V Magazine praised “Vodka Cranberry” for Gray’s “signature lyricism and vocals,” and Nylon described it as a “balancing act of pairing deeply specific lyrics with universally relatable emotions.”
Since announcing Wishbone, Gray has been making waves online. Earlier this year, he went viral at Gov Ball after appearing as “Sally” during Role Model’s set, and drew massive crowds to his own performance at the festival. He also made a cameo on the big screen as Charli XCX’s “Apple Girl” and surprised fans at Poland’s Open’er Festival with a performance of “Vodka Cranberry.”
Conan Gray will kick off The Wishbone Pajama Show tour with special guest hemlocke springs on September 11. The run includes his first-ever performance at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre on October 6 and wraps with his Mexico debut, featuring shows in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.
