The Dare has announced a new EP titled Freakquencies: Vol. 1, arriving August 22. The four-track project marks his first full dive into dance music, built directly from the energy of his globe-spanning Freakquencies parties. Leading the release is “Tambourine,” a pulsing new single that channels the same after-hours urgency as the parties themselves.
Described by The Dare as a love letter to French touch, big beat, electro, and acid, the EP is a sharp turn from his indie-pop roots. Each track was tested live in clubs from New York to Paris, Mexico City to London, making this collection feel lived-in and loud. The Dare, also known as Harrison Patrick Smith, explains, “These four tracks were made for and spun at various Freakquencies parties around the globe. They marry some of my latest and greatest loves.”
The EP arrives shortly after What’s Wrong With New York?: Afters, the expanded edition of his breakout debut, which included the viral single “Girls” and earned critical acclaim from outlets like NPR and The New York Times. Over the past year, The Dare has played Coachella, Primavera Sound, and sold out seven nights at Baby’s All Right, cementing himself as one of the most unpredictable forces in modern pop and club music.
Pre-orders for the Freakquencies vinyl are open now.
