Billie Eilish just released her latest music video in support of her Hit Me Hard and Soft album which released last month. The video for “Chihiro” was also directed by the singer and co-stars Nat Wolff.
According to Eilish, the visual for “Chihiro” represents a dream-like narrative where the long, dark hallways and shutting of doors symbolize the different corners of the mind. Along with her co-star Nat Wolff, she tumbles into an inescapable connection.
The external expression of an internal push and pull, as our deepest feelings of fear, love, or desire inevitably catch up to us, no matter how hard we try to run away.

The name “Chihiro” comes from the Hayao Miyazaki film Spirited Away. We recently dissected the song’s lyrics to find the referenced to the film, though the music video takes its own take on the lyrics.
HIT ME HARD AND SOFT has amassed over 1 billion global streams and has reached #1 in 25 countries. In its first week, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT officially surpassed Eilish’s previous album sales, selling 339k units and 90k in vinyl in the U.S., making this her biggest career debut.
