Republic Records and Verve Records have announced the soundtrack for Wicked: For Good, the emotional conclusion to Universal Pictures’ blockbuster Wicked saga. The album arrives November 21, the same day the film hits theaters worldwide.
Stephen Schwartz, the legendary Grammy and Oscar winning composer behind Wicked, teased what listeners can expect from the release. “I’m especially happy that the soundtrack album for Wicked: For Good has so much new music on it,” he shared. “In addition to two brand new songs, there is a lot that’s new in several other existing songs. So not only listeners coming to the score for the first time, but long-time fans of the original Broadway cast album, will have a great deal to discover.”
The soundtrack features two original songs written for the film. Cynthia Erivo, who stars as Elphaba, performs “No Place Like Home,” while Ariana Grande, who takes on Glinda, delivers “The Girl in the Bubble.” Fans will also hear “The Wicked Witch of the East,” a number not included on the Broadway cast recordings.
This release follows last year’s Wicked: The Soundtrack, which made history with the highest debut ever for a theatrical adaptation of a stage musical and the biggest sales week for any soundtrack in the decade.
Wicked: For Good will be available in multiple formats including CD, double vinyl, double picture disc and digital. Retailers such as Target, Amazon, Walmart and Barnes & Noble will carry exclusive editions.
