Griff is gearing up for the summer of her life. Not only is she preparing to open for Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour at Wembley Stadium, her debut album Vertigo is only a month away.
In the midst of the chaos, she released a brand-new single from the album called “Anything” and we can’t wait to see it live. “Anything” follows Griff’s prior single “Miss Me Too” which was released alongside the Vertigo Vol. 2 EP.
While the full LP is coming in July, Griff released the first two volumes of the record in October and April respectively. Volume 1 included the darker songs of the project, where Volume 2 was more euphoric. The final act of songs are what the singer calls “desperate and anthemic,” and it totally shows on our first listen.
“Anything” starts slow with a building verse that sings ” TV on in the background, I didn’t care about that,” before getting into the truly blaring chorus where Griff declares, “If you told me to run, jump off a highwire bridge cause’ you’d meet me at the bottom, I would’ve done anything you wanted.”
Of the whole collection, the “Astronaut” singer explains she wanted to tell this story in parts:
“The album is about vertigo as an emotion and the dizziness and upside down feeling of heartache. I wanted to drop this project in parts from insular low feelings (Vol.1) to desperate euphoria (Vol.2) and with volume three, the full story.”
Earlier this year we took a deep-dive into the first volume of Vertigo and included behind-the-scenes videos of Griff explaining the process of creating a “vertigo” feeling through her music. It seems the full length EP continues that trend.
Give “Anything” a listen and be sure to pre-order the full album to feel the Vertigo!
Vertigo is set for release on 19 July via Warner Music. For more information on her forthcoming tour, visit officialgriff.com.
